Embracing Nature: A Three-Storey Villa Interior Design in Clear Water Bay
This three-storey villa in Clear Water Bay spans over 2,000 square feet and enjoys lush mountain views along with a private garden off the ground-floor living area—an ideal canvas for an inspired interior design. Drawing from nature, the designer adopted a layered grey palette that captures light and shadow to bring the tranquillity of the outdoors inside. Finishes such as brushed metal, marble, and sculptural Italian pendant lights add visual and tactile richness. The result is a refined, nature-infused home where modern interior design meets serene comfort—an elegant sanctuary away from the city’s bustle.
A Blank Canvas Transformed: A Tailor-Made Home for a Family of Six
This newly built villa in Clear Water Bay was delivered as a bare-shell property—an entirely blank canvas with no prior interior work. With three young children and a live-in domestic helper, the homeowners envisioned a spacious, nature-filled home where their kids could play, grow, and thrive in a safe environment. Choosing this garden house was a conscious decision rooted in family well-being. In response, inT Design's designer not only crafted a bespoke layout that serves the family's daily needs but also enhanced the garden with custom-designed play facilities. The result is a thoughtfully designed home where indoor comfort and outdoor joy come together, creating a perfect setting for modern family living.

Light and Layers: Creating Elegance Without False Ceilings
In terms of interior design, the homeowner expressed a clear preference against false ceilings, opting instead to retain the original ceiling beams in the living and dining area. Without the use of recessed ceiling lights, the designer turned to a layered lighting strategy, employing floor lamps, wall sconces, and track lighting to create a dynamic, atmospheric setting. Near the large floor-to-ceiling window facing the garden, a Perch Light Branch pendant lamp by Moooi—featuring delicate bird silhouettes—was thoughtfully installed. This poetic design brings the essence of the outdoors into the home, as if the chirping of birds and gentle garden breeze had seamlessly entered the space, evoking a refined sense of calm and connection with nature.
Embracing Minimalism: Creating Open and Harmonious Spaces
In contrast to the typical dense spatial layouts found in local homes, the homeowner prefers a “Less is More” minimalist lifestyle. As a result, the living area intentionally avoids unnecessary decoration, focusing only on the use of color and composition in the TV wall and artwork. Through crisp lines and tree-themed paintings, visual focal points are created within the primarily gray and white space. Additionally, the sofa, positioned by the large floor-to-ceiling window, harmoniously integrates with the space, using the embrace-like shape and extending lines. By the front door, a simple mirror screen complements the space, enhancing its openness and giving a relaxed, unhurried vibe.
The staircase is designed with minimalism in mind, featuring a steel handrail and glass balustrade to enhance visual transparency. The bottom of the staircase is equipped with a storage cabinet, making efficient use of the space while integrating architectural elements neatly. Beneath the stairs, a recessed space provides an ideal spot for the placement of a grand piano, blending both functionality and aesthetics seamlessly.
Embracing Minimalism: Creating Open and Harmonious Spaces
The open-plan kitchen seamlessly connects with the living and dining areas, creating a fluid and spacious layout. Durable, water-resistant floor tiles are laid throughout the space, offering practicality for everyday use while establishing a fresh and clean visual tone. The arrangement of the tiles—in both color and geometry—echoes the linear language of the ceiling, creating a subtle dialogue between surfaces.
Custom deep grey cabinetry and a tailor-made island anchor the kitchen, with contrasting textures, shapes, and tones clearly defining its boundaries from the surrounding living zones. The island, thoughtfully designed with dedicated lighting to support the homeowner’s love of baking, is a perfect blend of function and style. It reflects a modern home’s attention to daily rituals and design detail.
Reimagined Layout: A Master Suite Tailored to Everyday Living
The upper floor originally featured two en-suites, two bedrooms, and a guest bathroom. The interior designer reconfigured the layout entirely, optimizing it to suit the household’s lifestyle and number of occupants. In the redesigned master suite, part of the en-suite bathroom was transformed into an expanded walk-in closet. A glass display cabinet was installed at the closet entrance to showcase the homeowner’s treasured designer handbags and high heels—balancing functionality with visual flair. The bathroom now features a freestanding bathtub in place of the original shower, creating a more open and serene environment. A double-vanity washbasin ensures that both homeowners can carry out their morning routines side by side, reflecting a thoughtful approach to modern interior design and daily living comfort.
Equal Space, Unique Touches: Ideal Rooms for Three Growing Children
The homeowners have three children, and to prevent disputes over room allocation, the designer thoughtfully restructured the layout of the kids' bedrooms. The en-suite bathroom originally part of the eldest daughter's room was repurposed as a separate bedroom for the youngest daughter, while the guest bathroom was designated for shared use—ensuring a balanced and practical spatial arrangement.
The eldest daughter’s room features a soft mauve palette, with a full-wall bunk bed inspired by a treehouse. This playful element encourages shared moments between sisters while cleverly incorporating ample storage. Cloud-shaped railings and a breathable wooden screen add charm and enhance air circulation.
The youngest daughter’s room continues the nature theme. Her bed and wardrobe adopt whimsical cloud and cottage forms, while wallpaper featuring animals and woodland scenes brings a joyful, storybook-like atmosphere. Open shelves beneath the wardrobe make it easy for her to organize books and toys—nurturing independence from a young age.
The son's room is styled in calming grey-blue tones interior design, creating a grounded, serene vibe. A custom wardrobe and study desk at the foot of the bed echo the colors of the deer-themed wall art above the headboard. A centrally placed double bed allows easy movement on both sides, while metallic sconces and champagne-bronze handles subtly enhance the room’s elegant yet functional design.
