Modern Minimalist Three-Bedroom Design
Located in Phase 1 of YOHO WEST, Tin Shui Wai, this 696-sq.ft. three-bedroom flat, inT Design embraces a modern minimalist style, with clever spatial planning and materials, the design creates an airy and bright atmosphere. Tailored to the homeowner’s needs, it strikes a careful balance between openness and functionality—showcasing the essence of compact apartment design in Hong Kong, where both aesthetics and practicality matter.
Connected Living Through Open Design
The rectangular living room has been reimagined for greater spaciousness. By converting the front bedroom into an open study room, the designer extended the living room’s sightline, making the space feel more expansive and airy. This open-plan design not only addresses the spatial limits common in three-bedroom layouts, but also enhances interaction among family members—bringing a sense of connection and warmth to everyday life, in line with modern interior design’s emphasis on shared, flexible living.

Unified Ceiling Design for Visual Flow
To enhance design consistency, matching slatted light troughs were added to the ceilings of both the living room and study room. The streamlined lines and integrated lighting create a natural flow between zones, visually connecting the two spaces. This rhythmic ceiling design not only elevates the overall aesthetic but also reinforces a sense of spaciousness—an effective lighting-and-space integration technique widely used in modern Hong Kong interior design.
Curved Timber Portals for Gentle Zoning
While the layout embraces openness, subtle zoning was thoughtfully applied. Arched timber portals were introduced at the entrances of the study and dining area, gently defining the spaces while adding visual softness and architectural interest. In the dining zone, the ceiling’s recessed light trough features a glowing ambient effect. The blend of warm timber tones and diffused lighting enhances the dining experience—demonstrating how soft spatial layering and atmospheric lighting bring both depth and warmth to home interiors.
Personalized Bedrooms with Practical Elegance
The guest and master bedrooms each feature different deep-toned monotone wall murals to highlight their unique character. To maintain visual balance, the furniture finishes remain clean and minimal, allowing the feature walls to stand out without overwhelming the space. Both beds are elevated, not only to improve the view but also to reallocate floor area for added storage. In the master bedroom, the space between the bed and wardrobe is cleverly transformed into a vanity, giving the female homeowner a dedicated space for her daily routine—a thoughtful detail in compact bedroom design.
